About

Ann Drosendahl dreamed of being an artist from the time she was a little girl in Ohio. Growing up in the beautiful rolling hills impressed in her a love for the colors and textures & symmetry of nature that has endured to this day. What goes into her artwork is often an interpretation, an impression of the light & colors that she finds so inspiring in the outdoors.

Although Ann drew & painted from an early age, the true genesis of her art did not begin until after the birth of her first son. Charmed by the vividness and immediacy of watercolors, her first true explorations in self expression were in this medium. She ultimately found this inadequate to support the depth and texture, flow and spontaneity she now happily employs in her large, dynamic paintings. Although primarily an oil painter, she has enjoyed experimenting with other mediums - paper making, textile art, sculpture and ceramics. Studying art at the community college level, at Arizona State University and at the Phoenix Center has provided a diversity of experience from which she draws in her work.

Through the years her work has evolved, crystallized, distilled ever more towards a romance with color & mood. She is also happy to still be inspired by nature in the form of the dramatic desert & mountains of Arizona.
